What Famous Authors and their Characters Have NOT Said about Kyle Demore and the Timekeeper’s Key…but might someday

Front Cover - Design H Res

Disclaimer: Just to clarify. The authors and their characters did not actually say any of these things in regards to my book.

As a human being I have a lot of people that I look up to. And since I’m a writer, many of these people happen to be very well known authors. I thought it’d be fun to think of some things that they might say should Kyle Demore and the Timekeeper’s Key ever be brought to their attention. These quotes are of course completely made up and for the purpose of this post they should be treated as though they themselves are fictional characters.

To really hammer in the fictitiousness of this whole ordeal, I also thought it’d be fun to insert quotes from characters that were created by these heroes of mine and mix them in with the main character of my book.

“Yes, I’m sure that book does exist.” – George R. R. Martin

“Yes and have you told him that winter is coming? Well it is.” – Eddard Stark when being asked if he knows someone named Kyle Demore

“Don’t call me Tortoise.”

“Would you rather be called the Imp? Let them see that words can cut you and you and you’ll never be free of the mockery. If they give you a name, take it and make it your own. Then they can’t hurt you with it anymore.”—Tyrion Lannister to Kyle Demore

“First lesson, Kyle. Stick them with the pointy end.” Jon Snow to Kyle Demore

“It sounds like it’s a book with too happy of an ending.” – Joe Abercombie

“You have to be realistic about these things.” – Logen Ninefingers to everyone that exist

“I wonder if Kyle Demore hates stairs… I do.” Sand dan Glokta

[Distractedly] “Uh ,what? I’ve never heard of anything called Kyle Demore and the Timekeeper’s Key. And the answer to your other question is no. Blood of Olympus will not be out before October. Please stop asking me.” – Rick Riordan

“Can you pass me that blue chocolate chip cookie? We can talk about saving the world after that.” – Percy Jackson to Kyle Demore

“Kyle Demore seems like he’d be a real Seaweed Brain.” – Annabeth Chase

“If it wasn’t written in the eighties, I don’t care.” – Ernest Cline

“Does Kyle Demore sound like superhero name to you? I didn’t think so.” – Wade Owen Watts

“So what?” – Chuck Palahniuk

“So I’m part of this club and the first and second rule is that I cannot talk about it. I’m breaking that rule now. You in?” – Tyler Durden to Kyle Demore

“Just goes to show you that even muggles can write books.” – J.K. Rowling

“Now I’m not saying Kyle Demore is the chosen one, but the book isn’t called Dobby and the Timekeeper’s Key, is it?” – Ronald Weasley

“Kyle Demore? I’ve read all about you! Just don’t do anything that would get us killed… or worse, expelled.” Hermione Granger to Kyle Demore

Expelliarmus!” – Harry Potter to Kyle Demore

“Really? I was bit by gnome once. It made me feel like singing an opera. Well I enjoyed talking to you, Kyle. It was like having a friend.” Luna Lovegood to Kyle Demore

“Fifty points from… the whole school of Soul Gate Academy.” – Severus Snape

“I think the guy who wrote that fantasy story takes after me. Well they all do.” – J.R.R. Tolkien

“You shall not pass!” – Gandalf the Grey to Kyle Demore in a lecture about hobbits

“My precious…” – Gollum (Sméagol) when talking about the Timekeeper’s Key

Well that’s all for now. Kyle Demore and the Timekeeper’s Key is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Google Play, and Kobo.

Thanks and happy reading everyone!

New Stuff From Yesterday

Aw yeah. So two cool things!

My little Sneak Peek Post went live on Miss Jana’s blog (That Artsy Reader Girl) yesterdays. Jana was incredibly kind to me even though she didn’t have to be. So anyone who is reading this should go to her sight browse what she has to offer and then stay there forever because her blog is awesome!

And Two.

Super nice and awesome Rebecca from the YouTube Channel Lost Book Thoughts  discussed Kyle Demore and the Timekeeper’s Key Follow and Subscribe.

So yes! Seems like she liked it.

And it made me fee like this:

Thank You Both!

Note To Future Everyone – Single on Valentine’s Day Edition

Tomorrow is that day. You know the one. How annoying is it to see those around you having someone to share this special day? Valentine’s Day. How dare they flaunt their love? The injustice! Everyone has someone…except you, right? Well, I don’t really care about that. I’m just here to try and shine a bit of reality sunshine on your bitterness, anger, sadness, jealousy, annoyance. Pick your poison.

Now, before I get started. This is an incredibly simplistic way to look at things. I know life isn’t always this simple. There are plenty of other factors, but I think most people tend to find some happiness in the simple things. All this might seem a bit silly, but who knows. Maybe it’ll be worth it to a few of you out there. And if you ever are curious about how my mind works, this is kind of some insight. Imagine, if you will, that I’m talking at John Green speed. Well then, here goes nothing.

There are over 7 billion people on good ole planet earth. We are nearing 7.2 billion quickly (go to this website to see the population clock. It’s sort of bananas when you think about it. That’s right, I said bananas… Well for the purpose of this post, let’s round it down to a nice cool 7 billion. That’s a 7 with nine zeros behind it. (Like so: 7,000,000,000)

Take that 7 billion and split it into 3.5 billion. This split is to divide the world into men and women. 3.5 billion men. 3.5 billion women. I think there’s supposed to be more women in the world now, but for the purpose of this, let’s keep it nice and even.

Now let’s say that only 1 billion of these wo/men are within your general age range of dating. Then split it further since 500 million are already taken.

Another 250 million have no interest in you. Maybe they have a different sexual orientation than you. Maybe they don’t like your face. Maybe they just don’t like you. Nothing is wrong with any of this. That’s just life. Different people, different taste. Simple as that. Don’t let it hold you up too much.

Still 250 million left right?

Well another 200 million get taken away, because let’s face it you can’t meet every one. They’re spread out all over the world.

Another 25 million just left you for someone else. They’re taken now also.

Hmm… 25 million left now.

24 million aren’t really sure what the hell they want, so you should just leave them alone.

Oooo…. 1 million now… things aren’t looking so hot.

You lose another 500,000 because you don’t like them.

You lose another 250,000 because you’re growing up. You finally know what you’re looking for. Someone who shares your interest. Someone who brings out the best in you. Someone who makes you happy.

Another 150,000 just did the same thing. Sorry you didn’t make the cut.

Where’s that leave us now? Hmm. 100,000 people.

90,000 simply never show up. I mean come on what are the chances you get to meet them all.

10,000 left. Hopefully, you’re not listening to any sad music right now. That would be disheartening…

9,000 of them pass you by. You never take the chance. Could’ve, would’ve, should’ve…

1,000 now. Gee golly. The mad man writing this won’t deduct more, will he? Actually I won’t.

There are 7 billion people in this world. I’m saying that there are maybe 1,000 of them out there who would be a good match for you. I think it’s likely that there are probably more than that, but let’s keep it at 1,000.

If that seems like a small number, I think you’re looking at it the wrong way. This is 1,000 people spread out all around the world. Think. You’ve maybe met a few of them. Maybe.

Think about where you’ve been. Lots of people barely make it out of their country in their lifetime. And if they do it’s so short-lived that it hardly matters.

Think about where you’re going. The person you’re looking for might not be next to you exactly at this moment. That doesn’t mean they never will be. That doesn’t mean you should give up. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t keep moving forward.

Think about you. You hear it all the time. Work on you, yada yada, yada. It’s a cliché song, but it’s true. People tend to picture themselves next to someone who will make them happy, but you should already be happy. Life is so incredibly brilliant; you should barely be able to contain your happiness. And hopefully when the time is right, somebody will want to share that same kind of happiness with you.

Now take a moment. Picture that the whole 1,000 in front of you. Too many for you to picture?

Okay cut it down to 500. Maybe you’re on a beach. 500 people are crushing the sand as they strain their necks to get a better look at you. The sun is barely over the horizon. Stars are starting to glitter the night sky. Each of the 500 wants to run into your arms. They’re beautiful, they’re handsome, their smiles make you want to melt or take your clothes off (either is fine). 500 incredible people who want to name shooting stars after you.

But here it is… the reality of it all…

You only need 1.

Recent Reads – January 2014

I’ve decided to start Unlocking Yesterday with a basic post for Unlocking Yesterday. I present… Recent Reads! I’m participating in a Goodreads challenge and aiming to read at least fifty books this year. So far I’m not doing too badly, but we’ll see how it goes.

So basically I’m going to list the books I’ve read in January. I’m not going to get too detailed with this, but I will tell you how I rated each book and maybe give a sentence or two on how I felt about it. Simple enough, no?

Right then. I found it in me to read three books in January. Pretty decent reads, but nothing mind-blowing or anything.

Rex Rising 3.5 out of 5 Stars –

12372058It’s a good read with some cool concepts, but it turns out a little too predictable; a little too forgettable; a little too careful. I wanted more awesomeness than this book was willing to give. Still. I’m looking forward to getting the sequel whenever I get my hands on it.

Treasure Island 2 out of 5 Stars –

This one was a bit of a chore to get through. I will admit that I believe my whole reading experience with this one was thrown off by the fact that I love the Disney animated version of this story called Treasure Planet. And after it’s all said and done. Treasure Planet is way more enjoyable. Shiver me timbers is it better… and I’d bet a bottle of rum that most people would agree with me.

All You Need Is Kill 3 out of 5 Stars –

It is sort of difficult to explain how I felt about this one. The best way to put it would be to say that I felt it was mediocre. The concept was decent. The aliens were called Mimics and they were pretty cool. But the characters… they weren’t exactly horrible, but there wasn’t really much there to make me care about them I guess. I didn’t realize this till I actually started reading the book, but it turns out this novel inspired the upcoming movie Edge of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise. I’m doubtful that it will be very similar to the book, but I’m curious enough to watch it…eventually.

And there you have it. Only three books for January, but it’s cool. I’ve been reading pretty heavily this month. Well sort of… I mean comics/mangas are books too ya know…

Things and Stuff Coming Soon to a Blog Near You

Trying to figure out what to do with one’s blog is not exactly the simplest challenge.

Challenge Considered

Obviously I’m continuously trying to make it clear to the world that I am an author. However, it is likely to become a trite subject if I often repeat the same song, don’t you think? This has left me pondering on what to do with my blog.

What's Left to Ponder

Er… And thus I think I’ve come up with some suitable ideas

So my blog will be broken up into three parts. One part will be something called Unlocking Yesterday.

This part of the blog will be dedicated to writings focused on things concerning my past/present. This might include things such as:

  • A Look Into Why/What/How I Write
  • Author Influences
  • Thoughts On Things I Like or Did Like
  • Philosophical Musings
  • Other Random Things
  • Random, Random, Random

So that would be like…most things. That’s what will go there… Most…things…

Another part of my (This is ze part of ze blog where you start reading everything in a Random Russian Accent) vunderful blog will be like ze lazer of future time. It’ll be called Locking Up Tomorrow. It will include things like:

  • Books/Movies/Things I’m Looking Forward To
  • Updates About My Upcoming Books
  • Random Predictions about Books and Things like: Will Harry Potter ever leave Ginny for Hermione? I don’t know, but I’m predicting he won’t. (I’ll try to be as accurate as the weatherman…)
  • Upcoming Events (A Trip to Japan [I wish], An Interview with Poseidon [Traveling by sailboat is ill advised], Castles I’m Going to Own Someday [Watch Out Camelot])
  • Notes to Future Sam (Keep Away From Alligators… I feel like this one is a given)

And the last part of my blog will be an incredible piece of work. A collaboration of Vega minds to create The Land Before Geeks! In this segment of the blog, my brother Paul and I will be writing and drawing little comics that will be a spoof of nature shows. Sort of like Kratts’ Creatures (Where my 90s kids at?) meets the vast world of Geeky things such as Pokemon and Lord of the Rings. It should be a bunch of fun.

Hmm Yes Quite

I swear everyone. I’m only half this amount of dork in real life. Well maybe a little more than half…

Giveaways on the way and a Video Review

Yesterday I mailed the Giveaway winners their copy of Kyle Demore and the Timekeeper’s Key. Shouldn’t be too long till it gets to you winners, so please be on the lookout!

Speaking of Kyle Demore and the Timekeeper’s Key, Miss Helene Jeppesen from halfway across the world was kind enough to do a video review of it. She seems to have enjoyed it quite a bit so that’s excellent. Check out her review and then check out all her other videos. She’s a great booktuber! So you should subscribe and stuff. Do it!

Also, thank you, Helene!

As for this blog. I’m trying to figure out some ideas to spice this place up. Stay tuned for other things and stuff. People love things and stuff.

New Blog, Giveaway, Snow

Welcome to my new blog site. It is still linked to my author site, but now all my blog updates will run through WordPress. WordPress is much more blog friendly than Wix and thus it will make it much easier for me to post more often.

It cost me, though. Most of my previous blog posts were lost. Never to be seen again in the vast internet sea. Ah, well. I didn’t like them anyways.

In other news. The end of my Goodreads giveaway was today. Wooh!

Congrats to the five winners! Each of your copies of Kyle Demore and the Timekeeper’s Key will be on their way tomorrow. I would have sent them today, but weather in Ohio is less than ideal. I couldn’t get my car out of my driveway today. For you see, there is…

Snow. Snow everywhere.
