A Book Haul – May 2014

Bawk. Bleh…

So I’ve been a bit eh er not doing blogs lately. I don’t know. Things have just been slipping my mind. Between reading and thinking and writing and doing some more thinking. Things just kind of get all jumbled up in my head sometimes. Ya know?

Well anyhow. I’ve a bit of a book for you this month. I’ve read a couple of them already, but yeah…

Book Haul… in your face… BAM!

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

I thought I’d read a classic for the month so I got my hands on the Legendary Frankenstein. I read it already and put my thoughts in a review already. It’s on Goodreads. I’ll link it!!!!!

The Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson

I’ve been wanting to read this trilogy badly ever since I read The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and I’m a bit mad at myself for never having checked his stuff out until recently. But yeah. Pretty damn good so far. I’m eating it up and cannot wait to continue!

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan (Book One of The Heroes of Olympus series)

Now this is a book I’ve been meaning to get my hands on forever. It is seriously about time. I’ve heard seriously good things about this series and I’m excited to get started on it. And check out the cover. That cover seriously looks awesome. So here’s to hoping that it is as amazing as it looks and as brilliant as everyone seems to say it is.

So that’s five books this month. Seeing as it is the 28th today, I’m not going to get through all of them by the end of the month. Unless I somehow stumble upon a super power that allows me to stop time or something. That’d be cool. Though, I suppose I could just read faster… Naaaa. Super power it is.

Till next time. It won’t be as long a gap, I promise 😀

Recent Reads – April 2014

Books! I read them and so should you.

I didn’t read that many books this month, but I read some good ones so I can’t complain.

Murder on the Orient Express (Hercule Poirot #10) by Agath Christie 4 out of 5 Stars

If you haven’t read this book, you should. Really, you should do it. I’m not particularly well rounded in the mystery department( something I plan to change), but I freaking enjoyed the Mystery Queen’s writing. Hercule Poirot, you brilliant man you, expect to see me in the future because I’ll be reading more of you soon.

THE OCEAN AT THE END OF THE LANE by Neil Gaiman 4 out of 5 Stars

As with the previous book, you should read this one. It was my first Neil Gaiman book, but it shan’t be my last. Really bloody unique book and I mean that in the best way. As I said in my Goodreads review, it’s haunting, mystical, and simply enchanting. I say it again because I mean it. It’s hard to put in words really. It had a few, not so enchanting moments, and that’s why it didn’t get the full five stars. Still. You should read it. I’m talking to you…all of you.

THE RITHMATIST by Brandon Sanderson 5 out of 5 Stars

A lot of first for me this April. My first experience of Brandon Sanderson. I’m kind of mad at myself for having waited so long. Seriously, my favorite book in a while. I freaking loved this book. I wanted to shed a tear after I found out that the second book in the series wasn’t out yet. I mean, I would if I could shed a tear, but ya know… me=too macho…. that’s me…ahaha hehe…..

Anyways. I don’t really give out 5 stars too often. Even though, my Goodreads profile would sort of say otherwise. I did that originally when I made my profile, because I thought it was more necessary than it actually is. It isn’t. I should change some 5 Stars on there immediately. I probably will change that soon. Promise. But no matter. This book. The Rithmatist.  Man is it good. Chalk drawings that scare the bajeebus out of you. CHECK. An awesome magic system. CHECK. Some cool characters that you definitely want to keep following as this adventure unfolds. CHECK. And a super cool world. DOUBLE CHECK. I really am having some trouble waiting for the next book to come out. I’m looking forward to it. “Believe it!” (Feel the Naruto quote wash over you… Feel it!)

STORMDANCER (The Lotus War #1) by Jay Kristoff — HAVE NOT FINISHED YET…the shame… oh the shame…

This one has really slowed down my reading pace. It took forever to get into. Then I just became a bit busy to be reading. And just yeah. It’s taking a while, I gots to read the whole thing, before I make the final judgemen. That’s best left for another day, though.

Till next time!!!!!!
