A Book Haul – June 2014

Hey Peoples.

I’ve had a bit of pause again, but no worries. More books, more reading. Ya know. All that noise.

So let’s see what have we here.

Elseerian (The Chronicles of Lumineia: The Second Draeken War #1) by Ben Hale

Found this one free for kindle so I thought I’d give it a go. It sounds interesting and I’m always looking for a good book to read. Plus heroes dying, a black horde, and a nearly destroyed world sound like a good mixture for a fantasy if I’ve ever heard one.

A Game of Thrones: The Graphic Novel by George R. R. Martin

A couple of friends got me this for my birthday and damn was I happy. They needn’t have got me it, but it is seriously a brilliant gift. I’ve read the original novel and getting this book was super exciting. I’ve actually already read through it. I want to get the other volumes soon enough…….. I know there’s already the show to watch, the books to read, but it’s always good to get even more of A Song of Ice and Fire. It’s a brilliant series and George R. R. Martin is an excellent writer. Perhaps one of the best. If you’re on the fence about reading his books, do it. Seriously, go on. Do it.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Last but not least for this months book haul, is The Book Thief. This is a bit different from my usual fantasy books with magic and swords and all that brilliant nonsense. However, I’ve heard nothing but excellent things about this book. I’m excited to read it since it’s always good to change up the pace a bit.

Well that’s it  for this month…so far. Maybe I’ll get a few more before we make it to July. Really can never have too many books. Well, unless your bookshelf falls over and crushes you and your bones. Then maybe you have too many books. That, however, is a chance me and my bones are willing to take.

Till next time 😀

Recent Reads – May 2014

Alright. Some books that I read. Let’s talk about it. 😀

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley 2 out of 5 Stars

As I said earlier this month. I read this. I didn’t really care for it. I put my review of it on Goodreads. LINK POWER ACTIVATE!!!!….. check it out.

The Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson

4 out of 5 Stars

5 out of 5 Stars

5 out of 5 Stars

This trilogy was brilliant. Honestly. It really was freaking brilliant. I’d probably say that all three of the books have a more accurate rating of 4.5, since there were some parts that I didn’t exactly love. However, the story was masterfully told and I think that my enjoyment of it was certainly enough to give the last two books 5 stars. I want to eventually put together some suitable reviews for each book but they deserve to be digested first. Seriously check this trilogy out if you like some awesomely unique magic and a well thought out world. Brandon Sanderson has become one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to get my hands on some more of his work!

Anyways. So only four books this month. Not bad, but certainly not great. And technically, I finished The Hero of Ages yesterday so it shouldn’t really count toward May… but I’m counting it anyways. In my defense. Time is moving much too quickly. It’s already June…

On to the next book!
